THE LORD OF THE RINGS - The Return Of The King
Motion Picture Soundtrack

Howard Shore's phenomenal task of bringing the landscapes, characters, diverse moods of sorrow, action, warfare, destruction, hope, fear, courage, determination and victory to life with notes has come together in this last of the trilogy - a proud piece of work that flows as seamlessly as the films itself. Shore's fabulous recurrent themes surges fluidly through the compositions without rehashing the previous. He doesn't lose sight of the overall tone, not trying to make it sound too different either. From the powerful clash of weapons to the tender moments of reflection, you feel the entire picture within the strings, horns, percussion and choirs. The track of Billy Boyd as the Steward of Gondor is also included. Guests include the likes of Ben del Maestro, Reneé Fleming and Sir James Galway. The somber but beautiful closing track is sung by Annie Lennox. Again the music created for this picture can stand on its own as a glorious audio collection, but is inexorably linked to the brilliant whole. Both director Jackson and Shore deliver a written declaration of the experience in bringing this incredible cinematic chapter (and their best work to date) to a close. The enhanced portion of the CD allows entry to special LOTR exclusives.
