the box THE BOX

With Cameron Diaz, James Marsden, Frank Langella, James Rebhorn, Holmes Osborne, Gillian Jacobs, Celia Weston

Written by Richard Kelly (based on the short story "Button, Button" by Richard Matheson)
Directed by Richard Kelly

Set in the '70s, this wildly imaginative and shocking tale has a couple with money problems facing an odd, but tempting proposition. A badly scarred stranger visits them with a box. It contains a button. If they push it, they'll receive a large sum of money. But, once they do this, actions are set in motion that will lead to the death of someone else. The repercussions of whichever choice they make will impact on their lives in the most serious of ways.

With so many movie themes wrapped around money, in this case it takes a much more unique and far-out turn with a moral choice woven in.
