THE WARRIORS

With Michael Beck, James Remar, Thomas Waites, Deborah Van Valkenburg
Directed by Walter Hill

This classic survival flick made in 1979 has the New York street gang of the title on the run from every single thug in the city after the murder of a prophetic leader is pinned on them. With dangerous back streets and subways, ample violence ensues as our anti-heroes have to get back to their home turf of Coney Island – many deadly obstacles thrown their way. Gritty and highly entertaining, the popularity of the movie rose again in the mid 2000s with a video game version cracking onto the market.
Like Escape From New York and Mad Max, a must-see.

PS. At the time of its release there were many fears that this could instigate gang activity.
