Having solved the case which took a dark and deadly turn in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Mikael and Lisbeth's paths divide. With her tech-savvy skills she'd also ended up scamming the man who framed Mikael, walking off with a lot of money. Millennium Magazine investigates a serious sex ring, with many high profile names involved. But these people don't play nice and won't hesitate to kill, as is the fate of two magazine researchers. In turn, Lisbeth is framed and she goes into hiding. In this second episode Lisbeth's past with her father comes to the surface. He's a Russian immigrant whose connections with a secret society still wields a lot of influence. Lisbeth's relationship with the man is non-existent, but they're drawn together with potentially fatal results as the the veil of civilized Swedish society is peeled back even further to expose some more of the darkness hidden beneath.

Extra features include a peek at the 3rd and final chapter, cast & crew interviews, plus a dissection of the Niedermann / Roberto fight scene.
