With Robert Englund, Heather Langenkamp, John Saxon, Ronee Blakley, Amanda Wyss, Jsu Garcia, Johnny Depp, Charles Fleischer
Directed by Wes Craven

Wes Craven’s big commercial breakthrough (after his low budget cult favourites Last House On The Left and Hills Have Eyes) came with this innovative slant on the horror genre. A group of kids are tormented in their nightmares by a burnt man with a blade fingered glove: the infamous Freddy Kreuger! He manages to kill them in their sleep and one of the girls decides she won’t become his next victim. Great fun with some cool FX and a fantastic soundtrack. Spawned many sequels of varying quality.
