RE-ANIMATOR

With Jeffrey Combs, Bruce Abbott, Barbara Crampton, David Gale, Robert Sampson
Directed by Stuart Gordon

This mid-‘80s classic (loosely based on H.P. Lovecraft’s Frankenstein-like tale) sees Herbert West attending an American university after a tragedy forces him out of Europe. He has perfected a serum to re-animate dead tissue. He ropes in Dan Cain, his new housemate and fellow student to take his research beyond dead animals. Their first test with human cadavers yields catastrophic results leading to the death of the dean (who also happens to be the father of Dan’s girlfriend Megan). But a rival theorist and lecturer at the university Dr. Hill, lusts after both Megan and West’s research and serum. The result is an absolute modern horror classic with humour and gore in equal measures.
Remastered DVD Millennium Edition includes many extra features including interviews.
Produced by Brian Yuzna with a great soundtrack by Full Moon resident Richard Band (based on Bernard Hermann’s Psycho theme).
