Winters Tale
WINTER’S TALE

With Colin Farrell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Will Smith, William Hurt, Ripley Sobo
Written Akiva Goldsman based on the book by Mark Helprin
Directed by Akiva Goldsman

Akiva Goldsman has written screenplays for big movies like I Robot, Lost In Space, and A Beautiful Mind (for which he walked off with an Oscar). Here he also dons the director’s hat, taking on a very unique (and vast) fantasy tale of love, angels, demons, humans (and a magical horse).
Spanning several time periods, the digitally aged New York at the turn of the 20th century is as much a character as the human (and inhuman) ones.

A thief (Peter) falls for a beautiful young woman from a wealthy family (Beverly). But, she suffers from an illness that will cost her life. Their love however transcends time and space. Covering a century from the early 1900s to present day, the reality of these periods is interchangeable, within a balance of destiny, true love (and its various levels), and how the goodness of love triumphs all, including evil (which includes Russell Crowe as a crime gang's nasty boss, who reports to a higher evil force).

Will Smith makes a surprising turn away from his usual comfort zone in a supporting part, playing, wait for it… the devil!
